This is the very first post of the Nigerian Institute of Translators And Interpreters (NITI) blog, which, very appropriately, is embedded in our brand new website. NITI has come a long way. From our humble beginnings as the Nigerian Association of Translators And Interpreters (NATI), the institute has worked hard over the years, thanks to our indefatigable National President, who has single-handedly championed this cause. His years of hard work bore fruit recently when, on the 8th May, 2008, the second Reading of this institute's proposed Bill took place at the National Assembly and, hopefully, NITI will become a Chartered Institute in not too distant a future. When that happens, it will definitely be live on The NITI Blog.

NITI has surely come a long way! Thanks to the strong foundation laid by the founding President and his team and the follow-up work done by theose that took over from them.

Joachim, good job! Hopefully, there shall be more entries and I suggest that NITI embarks on some publicity to create more awareness. We shall get there surely.

Dear Registrar, now that NITI has successfully conducted the entrance examination, what is next? There has been a lot of lull in the activities of NITI these two years. Let us wake up and put some vitality in the NITI system.
