September 30th, as we all know, is an important day marked every year by Translation and Interpretation bodies all over the world as International Translation Day (ITD). The International Federation of Translators (FIT), established in 1953, is the body that has been promoting the ITD as a show of solidarity of the worldwide translation community in an effort to promote the translation profession in all countries.
The Nigerian Institute of Translators and Interpreters (NITI), the accreditation body of language professionals in Nigeria, marks this date yearly in its own territory, Nigeria, in solidarity with its colleagues worldwide. The ITD theme for this year is: Building Cultural and Linguistic Bridges, and NITI is marking it in a one-day event, covering conference, luncheon and Awards presentation, which is holding at the Lake Chad Hall of the International Conference Centre, Abuja, 30th September 2011. Apart from the usual notice to all NITI members, this is to officially invite the general public to join us in celebrating this day, for it will be worth the while. Stay tuned to this site and we will let you know how it all went down, just a few more days to go.
